A Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldier was today charged with illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition following an operation at his home in Kingston.
The accused was allegedly held with an illegal nine millimetre pistol and fourteen 9mm rounds.

In a statement, the JDF said after an internal investigation, it collaborated with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) in an operation on Christopher Road in Kingston 14 today.

The operation, which was launched at approximately 8:30 a.m., led to the arrest of the JDF soldier
He was later charged and is in custody at the Denham Town Police Station in Kingston
