Henry triple puts Trippy into CFL semis vs Guapo

Shack­iel Hen­ry helped Pa­lo Seco Trip­py foot­ball club (FC) ease in­to the semi­fi­nals of the De­porti­vo Point Fortin (PF) Com­mu­ni­ty Foot­ball League (CFL) with a huge 9-0 win over Erin Board­er Play­ers at the new­ly re­opened Ma­haica Sports Com­plex on Fri­day night.

Five dif­fer­ent play­ers scored for Pa­lo Seco, ex­clud­ing Akiel Phillip’s own goal, in the first match of a dou­ble­head­er at the new­ly re­opened venue. Lat­er, de­fend­ing cham­pi­on Guapo Up­ris­ing Youths edged Sport­ing Club Fyz­abad, 2-1 in the oth­er quar­ter­fi­nal match, to stay alive in the com­pe­ti­tion.

Hen­ry, who won his sec­ond “Man of the Match” (MOTM) award of the sec­ond sea­son, scored three goals in the open­ing quar­ter­fi­nal match. He got sup­port from Tyrel Em­manuel, who net­ted a pair of goals while Shakuile Williams, Jalen Bris­tol, and Ky­ron Williams each put in one in the lop­sided af­fair.

Guapo Up­ris­ing has been flaw­less thus far, play­ing un­beat­en in the group stages and now thanks to a dou­ble from Jabari Mitchell re­mained on course to de­fend its ti­tle won back in 2019 dur­ing the first edi­tion of the league, which was halt­ed for two years due to the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic.

His team’s op­po­nent in Sat­ur­day’s semi­fi­nal clash al­so in Ma­haica, New Vil­lage, pro­gressed thanks to a goal each from Kedell Phillip and Cas­sim Kel­lar, to edge Ce­dros Pi­rates, 2-1, in an­oth­er close quar­ter­fi­nal match-up. Kyle Mood­ie scored the con­so­la­tion goal for the Pi­rates

The win­ner in the sec­ond De­porti­vo PF league, which is de­signed to bring com­mu­ni­ties to­geth­er in the south­ern bor­ough, will take home $15,000 and a set of cham­pi­onship rings do­nat­ed by the Muhammed Isa Foun­da­tion with the run­ner-up re­ceiv­ing $10,000, the third-place fin­ish­er $8,000 and fourth place gets $5,000
